April 2010
 At last, we're going trekking!

The plan is a little vague and we have very little time but I'm determined
to go, even for a few days.

We spent the first couple of days in Kathmandu, getting some work on the go,
then we're ready to go.

We're flying by helicopter into the mountains, a trip that otherwise
takes a 10 hour bus trip and a 2 day walk. It takes us half an hour flying....
worth the cost if time is short.
We are flying to the highest point of our trip,
3850 meters high, a silly thing to do as we'll find out later,
then trek down before being picked up by helicopter for the return.

It was wonderful despite the altitude sickness that John got.  I felt it was an appetiser and it
has awoken the deep desire in me to do the Mount Everest base camp trek next year....

We met some very lovely people; Chhowano Lama, our guide and his
wife and daughters. One of his daughters Dolgar is finishing school in Kathmandu
and hopes to study in Melbourne to become a doctor.
We are keeping in touch with her as we want to help her achieve that goal, the area (Langtang) most desperately needs
medical help, people die for the simple lack of basic medical knowledge and availability of medicines.
A stark, beautiful landscape with strong women and men, enjoy the photos...

Blessed and ready to go
